The COVID-19 pandemic has undoubtedly affected economies around the world. Many people have been made redundant, companies have had to re-evaluate if, when and how they will recruit. This has put job seekers in a situation where they had to consider their next move forward. Should they wait or look for a job now? What do they need to do differently? These are all questions that many job seekers are thinking about today. However, there are several reasons to not hesitate to change the job.
Accept the changes that happened. Although Covid are being loosened, it is impossible to predict whether the situation will change again in the future. However, employers are thinking strategically and have already adapted to the pandemic. If you wait for the perfect job opportunity and hesitate, you could lose it.
Take a break and think about the purpose of the work you are doing. Whether you are fulfilling and using your strengths, moving forward or stagnating. If your daily routine is not fulfilling you, it’s time to change that.
The first months of 2022 compared to 2021 show us an increase in job offers by 45% in average. The increase is visible in all areas, with the Information Technology sector reporting the highest interest in new candidates, with a 70% year-on-year increase in offers. This proves that industries have gotten used to the pandemic situation, have adjusted their daily operations, and have begun to expand their teams with new reinforcements.
The pandemic has given many the opportunity to take a closer look at their savings in difficult times. Therefore, when comparing companies, not only the job title itself and the stability of the company in the market, but also the benefits that the new job opportunity will bring with it, will certainly play a significant role. Employees are looking for benefits such as paid sick leave, pension supplementary insurance, health or life insurance, but especially financial benefits.
Given the circumstances, employers are more understanding than ever. Especially when it comes to work-life balance. In 2021, compared to 2020, the number of all advertised offers has increased from 190,000 to 293,000, and thus offers with 100% home office options have increased in direct proportion. In 2021, the number of such offers will climb to a staggering 30,400.
In this way, employers are trying to accommodate those who have become accustomed to working from home and prefer to spend more time with their families or pursue their hobbies.
Throughout last year, employers had the opportunity to experience remote working – from interviews, hiring and onboarding, to team meetings and online client meetings. They were able to ensure both efficiency and quality of work.
However, several surveys have shown that employers will choose the so-called hybrid model as their preferred model, where there is an option to combine working from home and the office. This largely reflects the very interest of candidates or employees who are keen to return to the team after a long period of isolation.
